Tourism Analytics

The Tourism Analytics program is designed to build stronger analytical skills of the students by combining:

  • Knowledge of the subject area (tourism, hospitality, destination management, etc.) as well as current trends and challenges in the industry that would require background in tourism analytics;
  • Training in research methods and statistics to emphasize conceptual understanding of problems and issues in the industry and methods that are used to solve them;
  • Building basic skills in data acquisition, warehousing, visualization and data mining using the social networks data as an example;
  • Learning software such as ArcGIS, MS Access, and SPSS with elements of programming languages (Python);
  • Providing opportunities to further build quantitative skills in the area of particular interest by taking approved electives from TRSM and other UF departments.
