The UF Experience

Like Nothing You’ve Ever Experienced

Six-weeks prior to arriving in the United States, students will begin two online modules for the course, Resort and Destination Development and Lodging Operations and Management. Upon arrival in Gainesville, Florida students will be given an on-campus orientation that will consist of the following: an on-campus tour, icebreaker activities, meet-and-greets with tourism faculty and other international students in the program, finalizing international visitor paperwork, obtaining student ID cards, an overview of both the academic courses and the upcoming work experience, and to end the day, an entertaining and fun group outing.

This will be followed by four days of instruction on the University campus as well as cultural and experiential excursions. Students will have the opportunity to visit such places as the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art, the Florida Museum of Natural History and Butterfly Garden, Freshwater springs, and to watch a UF sporting event. Students will also stay in dormitories to get the full experience of student life in the United States.

The following two days before heading to Walt Disney World® Resort will be spent at various resorts both in central and northern Florida where students will conduct on-site research and gain insider knowledge from hospitality and recreation professionals. All meals will be provided for students until arrival at the Walt Disney World Resort and the first academic course will be completed before traveling to Walt Disney World Resort.
