International Excellence: Three EFTI students are recognized during UF International Education Week 2019

The University of Florida International Center promoted the International Education Week 2019 between November 18 and 22 in appreciation of international scholars at UF. Part of a group of high-achiever individuals, three of EFTI’s international students were recognized with Certificates of Excellence at the Annual International Student Achievement Ceremony which happened on Monday, November 18.

The Eric Friedheim Tourism Institute and the Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management are proud of being composed by a majority of international faculty and students. Working in a field that intrinsically depends of cultural diversity as the travel and tourism industry does, the assortment of backgrounds of our members is one of the main contributors for the success of EFTI. With different perspectives and abilities, international scholars are always collaborating with other national and international researchers from all over the world on a broad range of meaningful research projects, with results applicable on local and world levels.

The Certificates of Excellence were conferred to Danielle Barbe, Lijuan Su, and Yu Niu, PhD candidates in the department. Additionally, the advisors of the three students are also international scholars: Dr. Lori Pennington-Gray, Dr. Svetlana Stepchenkova, and Dr. Heather Gibson, respectively.
